If you have a Parisian Style bathroom or just love the aesthetic, you can achieve a stylish design with just a few key elements. Use this list as a decor guide, a housewarming or hostess gift guide, or just for Parisian decor ideas and inspo for your own home design and bathroom design.
A disclaimer: I have never lived in Paris. I did spend a week in a Parisian apartment once (through a friend of a friend) and I confess I cannot remember the bathroom at all, although I imagine it was quite small.
This guide is really based on my idea of a Parisian apartment, which I hope you share. It’s grand and sophisticated, eclectic and romantic, and not at all like the French Country look which I also adore.
This is what you need (scroll to the bottom for links):
What would a Parisian themed gift guide be without beauty products? Achieving an effortlessly beautiful French girl look takes some work! Spend a minute or two curling your lashes in the morning (before mascara, please!) and you will reap the beauty rewards all day.
A wonderful gift for almost any occasion, orchids add instant cachet to a space, particularly white ones. A huge array of dancing white flowers with a strong base of dark green leaves always looks enchanting, elegant, and decadent.
If you are interested in cultivating your own, White Flower Farm has an excellent growing guide to help you pick the species best suited for your needs.
This iconic French parfumerie has a highly instagrammable line of candles, including a new ‘Cities’ line with six ‘online exclusive’ cities and three generally available. Go for Paris to stay on theme but really, any of their candles will do. They are all beautifully packaged and smell great.
4. Rose Infused Skin Care (affordable or luxury)
French beauty regimes famously favor good skincare over heavy makeup. Does it need to be rose infused? No, of course not. But roses are romantic! Paris is romantic!
Rose oil has anti-inflammatory properties, and it smells great. Since these aren’t common are attractively packaged, they would also make great gifts for a good friend.
While we’re on the subject of beauty, this cult favorite creates the perfect (well-moisturized!) subtly natural pink lip. And that iconic tube looks gorgeous on your counter or in your hand.
Expensive for a lip gloss? Yes. Perfect for a gift? Also, yes.
6. Bath Caddy
You must have some place elegant to store everything you are going to need for long soaks in your beautiful tub. This caddy is that place.
Not only does it have room for the basics like soap and a glass of water (or bubbly), but it has a removable book tray - perfect for long soaks but easy to take out to free up more storage.
Is there ever enough storage in a bathroom? No. No, there is not. Stash your favorite baubles and pretty makeup in these and save the boring things for the drawers. If you don’t have any drawers, renovate immediately!
Every Parisian Apartment style room needs a touch of the exotic, some memento of far-flung travels. Bone inlay, traditionally and painstakingly hand crafted in Udaipur, near the India/Pakistan border, is a perfect candidate.
This classic ‘X’ style stool is the perfect size to push under a makeup vanity desk drawer. It’s also compact enough, taking up leass than two square feet of space, to place next to a tub in many bathrooms.
These towels with an ornate tone-on-tone damask pattern make me think of the photos I have seen of Parisian apartments with ornate molding and trim work that is painted the same shade of the walls - it is luxury wuithout ostentation.
These 100% cotton towels, available in an array of neutral shades, would make a great housewarming gift - or even a send-off for a college bound child.
10. Modern Art
You need something to prevent a romantic and pretty room from becoming overly cloying or cutesy. A dramatic piece of art is just the thing.
I love Chairish for their eclectic selection of original pieces. An alternative gift would be to give the services of an art advisor. Art is extremely personal and it can be intimidating to try to choose a piece for someone else.
